Pulled the trigger on Singapore:

There is a good e-fare on UA from ORD-SIN. 658+tax. I finally pulled the trigger today. After this GNV trip, I'll have 4172 EQM's. I wanted to get over 25K by the end of Feb so I'd requalify for Premier before my current status expired. I've gotten used to sitting in E+ and boarding early. I'd also miss the meager 25% bonus if I let my status expire. I was debating going on a $720 trip to Manila which would yield 15,800 EQM's. I could also visit my relatives on such a trip. On Thursday, I saw that the fare had disappeared (today, it reappeared. I don't get why UA pulled the fare and then reinstated it in a 24 hour period) so I really wanted to book the SIN trip before the fare got pulled or before the dates I wanted got sold out. I booked ORD-LAX-SIN-LAX-DEN-ORD. According to flying fish, I'll get 21,035 EQM. Add the GNV trip and I'll have Premier. What finally made me pull the trigger was that I sold Sidegames on the trip.

I told Sidegames that we'd get 21,000 EQM. I told him that if he went on his EZE trip or booked a quick run to LAX, he'd be qualified for Premier. I told him that he wouldn't be tempted to do drugs in SIN b/c I'm pretty sure the penalties are steep there. He'd be dumb to risk doing drugs and risk going to jail for a long time. Besides, he hasn't done anything in Chicago for over a week so he probably wouldn't do it in SIN. He got excited and told me to book the trip.

Hotel:
I read a good thread in the Singapore forum on Flyertalk about hotels. I think I'm going to book the Intercontinental. They have great rates. Should be fun. Now I just have to research what there is to see in SIN. My understanding is that there isn't much to see there, but I"m sure we'll figure out something.
